Gorgeous Semi-Precious Gemstones at McFarland Designs

I saw this prenhite and sterling silver ring featured on Etsy’s homepage Sunday. McFarland Designs‘ store features many gorgeous semi-precious gemstones set in silver. If you’re into cocktail rings like I am — wow. Look at those facets!

Michelle Obama’s Take on the Double-Strand

Images via Barack Obama’s Flickr stream.
Michelle Obama gives us some middle ground between stodgy and skanky. It’s the old power necklace, the double-strand, but not in pearls.
My best guess is blue chalcedony? Or maybe jade? Love it.

The Rose Ring: Still Live and Kicking

Here’s a really pretty one I found in ERM Original’s shop on Etsy:

Raspberry Jade Rose Ring, $15

She uses a lot of semi-precious gemstones, including labradorite, one my faves. I also love this juicy red graduated bead necklace.

Max & Chloe: Very Pleased to Meet You

How could this site have eluded me for so long?
I’m not usually one to go for the bling-y stuff (much less the powderpuff pink stuff) but this ring made my knees weak.

Abigail Percy Earrings

Straightforward beauty.

Smokey Quartz Briolette – Earrings…, $24

Aventurine Earrings…, $30

Fun fact: if a gemstone exhibits Aventurine-like qualities, it is said to demonstrate aventurescence. I love that.
Extra party bonus fun fact: the name Aventurine comes from the Italian “a ventura,” or “by chance.” (Same link as above.)

September Domino & Blueprint Jewelry Round-Up

Aside from the occasional mid-pedicure peek, I don’t read fashion magazines. I almost said “women’s magazines,” but I wanted to be a little more selective with my genre-dissing.
Plus, saying I don’t read “women’s magazines” would be disingenuous, as there are a handful of home decorating pubs (as we say in tha biz) that I look [...]

Woodsy Fall Pallette at Orno

Browns and other earth tones aren’t always my first choice when it comes to jewelry, but these seem to fit the mid-September mood.
I had never heard of yellow turquoise or tiger ebony before. Who knew?

These simple walnut earrings are sweet, too.

decor8 Jewelry Finds from Etsy

Chances are if you read this blog, you (like me) have been reading decor8 for ages. After all, it was decor8 that turned me on to dejarnette new orleans. So I give decor8 indirect credit for B&C’s existence — and I continue to read it religiously.
Anyhoo, long way of saying that decor8 occasionally features [...]

Jhoomer & More at First Annual Brooklyn Crafts Festival in Red Hook

On Sunday I accidentally walked smack into the First Annual Brooklyn Crafts Festival in Red Hook. Co-sponsored by New York Creates and the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, it will run weekends on the Waterfront Esplanade from 1-6PM on and off this summer. I’d give exact dates, but everything I read, including the postcard I grabbed [...]
