Come on, you’ve noticed, too. Images via McCain Blogette.

Now, I openly admit popping in to Sephora to purchase a shade of Stila eyeshadow that Ms. McCain recommended on her blog. Seriously.
But there is something about those giant hoops that seems borderline…inappropriate? To confirm this theory, I conducted a rather cursory Google search to take the pulse of our great nation on this topic.
Big Hoop Earrings, Trendmill. Too bad the post isn’t dated. How else will I know if this is a new trend or an old one, Trendmill?? Also, the hoops featured don’t meet the exact specs of McCain’s.
Do You Think BIG Hoop-Earrings are Cute?!, Yahoo Answers. I’ll let the responses speak for themselves:
- no. i call them hore hoop earings
- nope, sleezyyy.
- They kind of remind me of a prostitute. Especially the really big golden ones or something from the 70s disco era.
- Maybe they were once but now I think they are very scanger/chav like
- No. In high school, my friends and I called them “hooker hoops” cause all the slutty girls wore them.
That’s what I was afraid of. I too remember the big hoop girls from high school.
If you want to live dangerously:

I signed up to receive email updates from Wabisabi Brooklyn when I saw their enameled decoupaged penny rings at Mongo on Smith Street. Looks like the Wabisabi-ers will be out in full force at the Brooklyn Indie Market tomorrow until sunset or so.

Note that this Brooklyn Indie Market event will be held at Camp Lounge — not too far from their usual digs on Smith Street.
As for Wabisabi — check out their website and their Etsy store. I haven’t been back to Mongo since it opened in August and have been kicking myself for not picking up some $18 a pop (I think?) rings. Yays all around, and see you tomorrow.
Here’s a really pretty one I found in ERM Original’s shop on Etsy:

She uses a lot of semi-precious gemstones, including labradorite, one my faves. I also love this juicy red graduated bead necklace.

On the one hand, it’s your typical “resort” collection — the one that comes out while there’s still slush on the ground that makes you wonder who the hell can afford to take a trip to Bermuda in late January. (Besides Michael R. Bloomberg.)
On the other hand, how can you argue with how happy, Spring-y, and blue everything is?
Welcome back, nautical theme, old friend!

Beaded paisley necklace, $75

How could this site have eluded me for so long?
I’m not usually one to go for the bling-y stuff (much less the powderpuff pink stuff) but this ring made my knees weak.

Brian Danielle Pink Topaz & Diamond Ring, $487.00
Max & Chloe
Most of them prominently feature enamel — which is pretty, and colorful, but somehow is starting to seem slightly 5-minutes-ago.
This one piqued my interest:

Yes, it is like walking into a nightclub. A very well-lit nightclub.
Yes, you will be the only person in there over the age of 25.
But who cares about that when you find an exact replica of this bracelet from your grandmother’s costume jewelry collection? The one she let you wear as a kid?

Suck it up, get on the escalator, and keep your eyes on the prize.

Where can I get one?
All I’m turning up are these cheapies on GirlProps. (Not to mention the fact that I’d need to double-up to get both initials on one finger.)
